Alan Aker, MD
Senior Medical Director

Dr. Aker is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point and earned his medical degree from New York Medical College.  Following his residency at North Shore University Hospital (Cornell) where he was Chief Resident, he was appointed Coordinator of the hosiptal’s Ophthalmology Residency Program. He is a charter member of the American College of Eye Surgeons, with whom he has served as President since 1992. He is also President and diplomate of  the American Board of Eye Surgery, and diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology. He served as Chief Medical Editor of Ophthalmology Management from 1997 to 2002.

Dr. Aker has been chosen repeatedly for the publication "Best Doctors In America." He continues to be actively involved in surgical research studies, as well as FDA studies.

Dr. Aker is Co-founder and Medical Director of the Aker Kasten Eye Center, and resides in Gulf Stream, Florida with his wife, Ann Kasten Aker, MD and their three children.
